On Thursday, November 14, 2014, I performed at the Willows Restaurant in Honolulu, HI. Part of my performance included my fundraising campaign to bring clean water to India. The webcast is available at http://pakelelive.com.
Over the summer, Chris and I saw Scott Harrison, the founder of charity: water, and were shocked to learn that every day, 5,000 children die from water-related illnesses before they reach their fifth birthday. In fact, diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war.1
Sanitation is more important than independence.
As a unique way to celebrate our company’s 20th year in business, we’ve decided to start a Runnymede fundraising campaign to bring people clean drinking water. This is part of our financial ministry to help people manage their savings and invest prudently. It is our core belief that financial health stands equally important among the physical, mental and spiritual pillars of one’s overall well being. If any one of those four pillars is not nourished and sufficiently cared for, our bodies may be negatively impacted. I have witnessed how the burdern of a severe financial loss can affect a person’s physical health, in extreme cases manifesting in the form of critical illness. Conversely, an improvement in physical health can provide opportunities for economic and financial growth for an individual, family and community.
Every $1 invested in improved water supply and sanitation can yield from $4 to $12 for the local economy, depending on the type of project.2
We truly live in a global village. Please donate to our campaign — anything you can give is a huge help. We will match all donations made (for the 1st $1000 in our campaign). Our $2,500 campaign goal can bring 55 people clean water and change their lives forever!
you can donate until Dec. 31
Just $45 can bring clean water to one person in Orissa, India.
- 100% of donations go directly to the field to fund water projects. charity: water depends on private donors, foundations and sponsors to cover everything from staff salaries to other opertating costs.
- Every water project can be tracked using photos and GPS coordinates.
