Once closely guarded family secrets, slack key tunings fall into five basic categories: Major, Wahine, Mauna Loa, Niʻihau/Old Mauna Loa and miscellaneous. Andy primarily plays in the following tunings:

• Taro Patch (D-G-D-G-B-D)
• Namakelua's Tuning (D-G-D-F#-B-D)
• Leonard's C (C-G-D-G-B-D)
• Keola's C (C-G-D-G-B-E)
