Aloha ‘oe, aloha ‘oe (Farewell to you, farewell to you)
E ke onaona noho i ka lipo (The charming one who dwells in the shaded bowers)
One fond embrace,
A ho’i a’e au (‘Ere I depart)
Until we meet again

 – Aloha ‘Oe by Queen Lili’uokalani

I have fond memories of Luau Night at Good Enough to Eat, spearheaded by the efforts of Lester Miyashiro so this evening was bittersweet. I was saddened by the news of Lester’s passing but truly honored to return to GETE to participate in this memorial and celebration of his life.

It is fun doing a Hawaiian music dinner show in New York. I even sang Lester’s favorite – Dennis Pavao, the Golden Voice of Hawaii. Lester made the cupcakes (pictured) for the restaurant’s 30th birthday, and they were for sale this evening. The staff joined me for a heartfelt group sing of Somewhere Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World. Memorial services were held in Honolulu.
